1963 Sindy Doll with Weekenders Outfit

click for larger image

click for image of back of doll

First edition Sindy doll by Pedigree from 1963. Sindy was introduced as a rival to Barbie in the UK. This doll has a large soft rubber head with a hollow body and legs, soft rubber arms. Her auburn hair is styled in a messy type bob. Back of head marked ‘Made in England’. Outfit is called Weekenders and consists of blue, white and red stripy top, denim jeans and white lace-up sneakers.

This doll has obviously been played with - her legs are a bit loose (they swing easily), and she has part of two fingers missing.

She comes with her original Weekenders outfit - jeans and sneakers are in very good condition, although jeans need replacement snap fastener. Top is split at one side seam, and needs replacement snap fastener.

Sindy is approximately 11.5" (29cm) tall, and comes complete with original stand.

"Sweet Swimmer" from 1964 comprises a blue swimsuit with white trim (which could also double up as a leotard), and white plastic sandals.

This is a genuine Sindy outfit.

One side seam of the swimsuit needs a couple of stitches, otherwise in excellent condition.

Sindy Leather Looker Skirt

click for larger image

The skirt is in orangey-red leatherette, with shoulder straps. It has slight ink marks on the back, which I haven't tried to remove. This skirt doesn't have a label, but I believe it's the Sindy "Leather Looker" skirt from 1963

Sindy 1960s Duffle Coat

click for larger image

Winter is here, so keep Sindy cosy in this cute little tan duffle coat.

One toggle is missing from the front, but it could easily be replaced by one of the identical sleeve toggles.

Apart from the missing toggle, the coat is in excellent condition.

Dating from the 1960s, these outfits are home-made, but look as though they are from a ready-to-sew kit.  Suitable for Sindy, Barbie, Tressy, etc.

Blue, pink and yellow shift dress has a matching loose fitting coat.  Also included is a pinafore-style dress with daisy pattern.  This is open at the back, with a stud fastener at the top.  Or could be worn open at the front, as a sleeveless coat.

1963 Sindy Summery Days Dress

click for larger image

Short-sleeved checked cotton dress for Sindy doll. This dress doesn't have a label/tag, but it is undoubtedly the Summery Days dress issued in 1963.

Fastens at back with two snap fasteners. One side seam is split (about 0.5") and needs restitched. Dress is otherwise in excellent condition.

1930s Educational Posters

These posters all measure approximately 16" x 20" (41cm x 52cm) with a image size of approximately 12" x 16" (30cm x 40cm)

They are all ORIGINAL POSTERS from the 1930s, from a set of 84 which were designed for use in schools.

Any damage or wear beyond usual handling wear is detailed in the individual descriptions.

Many of the prints are by well-known children's illustrators, and where the artist is named on the print, this is also detailed in the individual descriptions.

Sindy Meets the Dollybeats

click for larger image

click for image of back of sleeve

Sindy, made by Pedigree Dolls, was the UK's equivalent of Barbie in the 1960s. This 45rpm single was released in the mid 1960s. Side 1 tells the story of how Sindy met the fictional band "The Dollybeats" (who seem to have been based on The Beatles), when they played a concert in her home town, Side 2 is the Dollybeats singing "Sindy".

An unusual item for the Sindy doll collector.
